A custom typeface designed for editorial identity

Overview

Developed for the BDA Awards Book, this custom typeface forms an integral part of the publication’s editorial identity system, establishing a cohesive and distinctive visual language throughout the book. The design was also highly regarded by the client’s internal design review team.

Design Concept

Built upon a clear and rational typographic structure, the typeface uses transparency, overlapping forms, and layered visual variations to reflect the diverse creative disciplines and forms of expression represented by the BDA Awards. Designed for both display and reading contexts, it maintains editorial legibility while extending the publication’s refined and contemporary visual language. Its multi-layered construction also works with specialised printing techniques, including silver foil stamping and white screen printing. The interplay of ink, material, and overlapping layers brings subtle visual depth and a rich tactile quality to the physical book.

Recognition

The project received the Judges’ Choice Award and was selected as Top 10 at the Global Design Awards 2025.

BDA Awards Book 字體設計是為年度出版物量身打造的專屬字體，為《BDA Awards 2023》建立一致且鮮明的視覺語言，獲得客戶內部設計審查團隊的高度評價。

字體以清晰、理性的結構為基礎，透過透明與多重疊印形成豐富的視覺層次，呼應 BDA Awards 涵蓋的多元創意領域與表現形式；在兼顧標題展示效果與內文易讀性的同時，保有精緻而當代的視覺風格。

在實體製作方面，多層次的字體設計結合燙銀與白色絹印等特殊印刷工藝，透過不同油墨、紙張與印刷技法的交疊，為實體書籍及海報增添細膩的視覺變化與豐富的觸感。本專案於 2025 Global Design Awards 榮獲評審特別獎（Judges’ Choice Award），並入選年度十大作品（Top 10）。
